This device uses low earth orbiting satellites. The Guardian Tracer units are integrated with a new-generation GPS receiver optimized for low power consumption and high sensitivity even in environments characterized by extremely weak signal.  This unit can be concealed virtually anywhere on the boat as long as it faces the sky. It works great in center consoles and electronic boxes.
